The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, often referred to simply as the Gita, is a revered Holy Scripture written in Sanskrit and forms an integral part of the Vedic text, the Mahabharata. Comprising 18 chapters, known as 'Adhyays', it contains a total of 700 verses referred to as 'Shlokas'.

Positioned within the Bhishma Parva (the sixth book) of the Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Gita addresses profound concepts such as Dharma, Gyaan (knowledge), and the Yogic ideals of Moksha through various paths like Jnana, Bhakti, Karma, and Sankhya Yoga.

The narrative framework of the Gita centers around a dialogue between Prince Arjuna of the Pandavas and his charioteer and guide, Lord Krishna. Confronted with the moral dilemma of engaging in a righteous war—the Dharma Yudh—between the Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna receives counsel from Krishna emphasizing the importance of fulfilling his duty as a warrior and upholding Dharma.

This scripture encourages individuals to transcend their fears and approach their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication. It posits that after grasping its teachings, there remains nothing further in this world to be learned.

Reading the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is not merely an academic exercise; it advocates for the application of its principles in daily life for personal fulfillment and happiness. As Buddha wisely stated, "However many holy words you read, And however many you speak, What good will they do you If you do not act upon them?"
